moroi weaknesses

The Dhampirs

Are Moroi-human hybrids. Their role in vampiric society is to act as Guardians to the Moroi, protecting them from their monstrous counterparts, the Strigoi.

The Strigoi

Vampires that are distinguished from Moroi in many ways. They are troubled, undead, immortal, and are made instead of born.

history

Moroi, like all vampires, descend from an ancient vampiric race, the strigoi, that entered the Material Plane from the Shadow Plane in the ancient past. The first descendants of the strigoi were the bestial nosferatu, who preyed animalistically on the living. Some of their kind rejected this way of life, choosing instead to adopt the veneration of youth and beauty common among their human prey. They became the first of the moroi, and their ability to reproduce freely quickly led them to outnumber their nosferatu ancestors.

The moroi, in turn, became ancestral to the two other strains of true vampires: those moroi who rejected the idea of consuming the unclean fluids of "lesser beings", although they nearly starved into extinction, learned to feed psychically on their victims' souls and became the vetalas; other moroi, who went into deep hibernation and emerged later starving and maddened by their desires, became the first jiang-shis.

While most are born as a moroi, stolen souls can be used to either strengthen the vampire or transferred to a dead person, turning them into a phantom or ghost vampire. These will leave the grave to draw energy from the living. While Moroi are mortals, it is the phantoms that are immortal and tend to have a lesser place in Moroi society since true Moroi blood is considered inherited and prevails over a phantom spirit. This prejudice caused the phantoms to feel ostrasized, which began the uprising of a Civil War in 1760 that still exists today.

structure

The Moroi rule the shadows and are led by the King or Queen who is selected from one of the twelve Royal Families. Despite the power of the monarch, most decisions within the Dominion are made by the Royal Council, which is formed of one member from each of the Royal Families; the decisions of the Royal Council are final, but can be vetod by the monarch, however this is rarely done.

The oldest member of a Royal Family gets the title of "Prince" or "Princess". Royal Moroi are supposed to have at least two Guardians. Since there are more Moroi than Dhampirs, many Moroi have to make do without a Guardians, but this does not apply to Royals, who come first.

characteristics

Moroi are said to be very beautiful. Moroi's skin is described as being very pale and their bodies are slim and tall. Moroi are taller and slimmer than humans and dhampirs, and naturally have less muscle mass. In comparison to their Dhampir guardians they look pale, tall and slender. Due to their slim bodies, female Moroi in general have smaller breasts and slimmer hips than their Dhampir cousins, who are usually more curvaceous. Moroi females and males are described as possessing a supernatural beauty. They have a pair of fangs that do not retract.

a rival clan

Called anarchs, the Occidere is a phantom clan formed in 1760 that rebelled against members of the Royal Council. They started an uprise to overthrow the council and take their place but after it failed, they decided to flee to different countries in an effort to take over smaller territories. This resulted in a guerrilla warfare, wreaking havoc in various parts of the world. The clan pillaged cities and took the lives of innocent victims. They are considered a savage, nefarious group that are motivated purely by violence, anarchy, and murder.

They have destroyed thousands of villages and cities, either taking over or leaving them completely abandoned, littered with bodies and blood on the streets. They are known to kidnap magic users in combination with their own, all in an attempt to fight and protect themselves against the Royal Council. Since the late 1700s, they have evolved into a somewhat higher status in the Moroi society, often finding shelter in abandoned castles in order to create a hierarchy of their own.

quote

"A magical, ancient race: the Moroi. The Moroi don't wear black capes, turn into bats, or sleep in coffins. Daylight annoys yet doesn't kill them. But yes, like most creatures with fangs, the Moroi live off blood. But they don't live forever. That's why they need us." -spirit bound
