Myla Skye wants to relive her romantic, fairytale wedding -- and who could blame her? Pull up a seat and join us while the starry-eyed newlyweds tell-all in this exclusive, firt time interview. It felt like even I had somehow been apart of the wedding as they laughed and shared their favourite stories together. The laughing was royally contagious, and it wasn't long after when I found myself wiping away my own happy tears. Sit down with us as we let the 25-year-old singer and husband, entertainment attorney and of dunrobin revel in last Saturday's whimiscal wedding.
Skye welled up with tears when she described walking down the aisle with her father. "I truly had to hold everything inside -- I thought I was going to burst with tears! Seeing all my friends and family, and then Julian waiting to take my hand. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life," she beamed brightly in her chair. "I never imagined I'd get married but when I got to know Jules, I had never felt more loved in my life. He changed everything I ever knew about love." The way she stared at her husband was something out of a romance novel. Her eyes glistened and sparkled, it had everyone in the room wanting to turn the page to continue reading. Their love was a page turner.
Please, tell us how you two first met? Was it love at first sight? "I definitely felt an instant connection with Julian from the moment we first met. My manager introduced me to him -- it was right after I put out my first single Sweet But Psycho when we hired Julian onto our team. I think I gasped and ducked under his desk because I thought he was so gorgeous and here I was in a hoodie and yoga pants, but now that I think about it, maybe that's why he liked me. It was the yoga pants. But I thought surely someone was playing a dirty trick on me."
Julian, how did you know Myla was the one? "When I saw her with my daughter. She showed her so much kindness. They are both artists and I loved watching them bond. She never treated her like an accessroy. She came in and talked to her like a person and that was really important to me."
Which one of you proposed first? "Julian proposed to me on New Year's Eve. It was the sweetest thing ever! We were in Grand Park counting down the new year together when all of a sudden I turn around to yell, 'Happy New Year!' he's bent down on one knee asking me to marry him. I couldn't believe it. At first I thought he had lost a contact lens but here he was proposing to me! I was so surprised and happy."
Everyone's so excited about your baby! Congratulations, by the way. But I have to say, we're all dying to know when he's due and what his name is! "Thank you! He's do late May, so very soon! There were times at the wedding when I'd be dancing and I thought to myself, 'oh no, I can't do this move. I'll end up going into labour and having him right here on the dance floor! Which would be very fitting for me, honestly." Julian chimes in laughing, "He would've made an incredible breakdancer!"
"We want to keep his name a surprise right now. We'd rather keep him out of the media for now and share this one special thing amongst friends and family, but I promise you'll know very soon! Hopefully everyone can wait just one more month!"
Speaking of the wedding, take us back there! What was your favourite part about the wedding? "I enjoyed the whole day. It was all a lot of fun," Julian starts out, "But I have to say that seeing Myla for the first time was my favourite part. She just looked so amazing. I honestly couldn't believe she was marrying me."
"I couldn't believe he still wanted to marry me," they both laughed, the two of them beaming with hearts in their eyes. "Kissing Julian at the alter will always be my favourite memory. It was the little things he did, like held my hands and placed his hands on my belly that made me feel so at ease. It made me fall in love with him all over again. I'm going to cry just thinking about it!" She laughed, wiping away another happy tear. "My best friend Logan, she got on stage at the reception and sang 'My Girl' to me, only she would replace the lyrics with Myla instead. It was the funniest thing ever. Oh! I know I'll regret saying this but my sister Maisie dancing around on stage singing 'White Wedding.'" Julian laughed, obvious this memory was a crowd favourite, adding. "She made a really good Billy Idol. I was quite impressed with her 80s dance moves." Myla was in a fit of laughter when they both relived the event. "Oh God, my sister is gonna kill me when she reads this!"
Now that the wedding is over, do you have plans to put out any new music? "Yes, definitely. Even with the wedding, I've still been working in the studio. But since I'm Scotland bound, we've just set up a studio for me to start recording new music I've written. I'm very excited!"
Will you be back on the road after the baby is born? "Yes, I miss touring! But my first priority is the baby of course, and I want to spend as much time with him as I can. I'll probably end up packing my whole family with me on tour since I can't imagine being apart from them. I get way too homesick if I'm away for more than a day."
